Background
The League started in 1985 with one division and ten teams. Millicent Childs was a member of Eynesbury Bowls Club. Millicent's family set up the League as a tribute to her. A second division was added in 2001 when more clubs showed an interest in joining.
In the past, a single administrator ran the League. Up to 2008 that was Derek Pope. In that year, Ian Stocker took over. He contacted clubs in Huntingdonshire and Bedfordshire. That generated enough interest to form another two divisions. A fifth division was added in 2019. Currently there are forty-three teams competing on Wednesday afternoons.
After fifteen years running the League, Ian took a well-earned retirement in 2023. Several members of Somersham Bowls Club now administer the League.
